Missions at Alum Spring Baptist Church

Reva Food Bank – on the 4th Wednesday of each month we participate in the REVA drive thru food distribution. This is part of the Blue Ridge Food Bank which supplies the food. Typically we serve approximately 300 + families each month from Culpeper and Madison. We work from 8:45 AM to 11:30AM and all volunteers are welcome. Madison Day – This is a one day mission opportunity where we work on low income and elderly home repairs in Madison County. It is typically held on the first Saturday in May. We have always sent a team from Alum Spring and also raise funds to help with the purchase of materials. No special skills are required and there are opportunities for all to serve … either on the jobsite or doing support work such as registration, food preparation and serving, material running, and home visitation.

Mission Trips – We typically participate in 2 week long trips a year to do a mission construction projects organized by the Shiloh Baptist Association of which we are a member. In the spring we usually do some type of disaster rebuild project from a hurricane or severe storm damage depending what is available. In the summer time we have been going to South West VA to work on low income housing repair since 2010. The dates of these trips and projects vary depending on what the needs are and housing availability.

One Love Culpeper – Very similar to Madison Day however it is done in Culpeper County. This year’s date is Saturday, November 2nd and we will be mainly we doing yard work projects and some minor home repair. Please contact Jeff Montag for more information at 540-219-4653.

Mission Month Focus – Each month we collect money donations to support various mission organizations. We support all of the Southern Baptist special offerings such as Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (supports world missionaries), Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (supports state missionaries and programs), and Alma Hunt offering (supports VA mission programs). We also support many local missions such as Pregnancy center, Christ is Action, Habitat for Humanity, CARS, Blue Ridge Food Bank, and others. We also support the Village of Hope and Love which is a Christian School in Africa. These giving opportunities are listed in the bulletin each month along with the details of what they support.

Mission Tithe – 10% of our general offering is donated each year to both local and foreign mission organizations which vary greatly depending on the needs
